Description

Who's ready to start planning for next year? Karida Collins, the dye master extraordinaire and owner of Neighborhood Fiber Co. will bring her team of dye technicians to teach a glorious long weekend of classes that will cover everything you ever wanted to know about hand-dyeing. Karida will be bringing her new baby (she's due in February!!!) so, to make sure that everyone receives the attention they deserve, we are limiting this retreat to 12 people.

There will be delicious food to nosh on (please let us know of any dietary restrictions), and informal knitting sessions!

Where: The Blue Mountain Retreat Center in Knoxville, Maryland

When: 4 pm June 28th through 1:30 pm July 1st (please let us know if you need to arrive earlier)

How Much: $600 for the full package, $275 for the hang out package. Both packages include 3 nights’ accommodations (shared rooms, twin beds only, 2-4 people per room) and all meals (see below for specifics). If you would prefer to make monthly payments, you can do so here.

The full package also includes all dye classes (see below) and materials, access to dye and materials outside of classes, and choice of $100 worth of undyed yarn in any of the Neighborhood Fiber Co. bases. Additional undyed skeins will be available for purchase at workshop exclusive prices.

Meals: Included in the retreat cost are dinner on Thursday, 3 meals on Friday, 3 meals on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. Breakfasts are continental with breads and cereal provided. Lunch and dinner are buffet style and we work our way through the leftovers for lunch on Sunday. Please feel free to bring any snacks or alcoholic beverages!

We will be teaching the following techniques: color theory, beginner kettle dyeing, layering techniques, ombre dyeing, overdyeing,  dyeing roving/spinning fiber, exotic fibers and silk, speckles, and hand-painting.

Unfortunately, this retreat is not handicapped accessible, but the Baltimore one is!

*Please note these classes are intended for amateur dye enthusiasts, not dye professionals. If you are looking for classes that teach how to dye for business purposes, then this is not the retreat for you.*
