New Studio and Events

If you have ever been to any of my open house events, then you know that I’ve been dyeing all the yarn in my 700 square foot apartment. Well, things have changed. Now, Neighborhood Fiber Co. is located in an external studio/storefront space! I have plenty of light and lots of space. Of course, that means a grand opening celebration, and I hope that you can come. Details are below the picture:

Who: YOU!
What: Neighborhood Fiber Co. Grand Opening
When: Saturday, 9/22 from 1 pm to 5 pm
Where: 13 W 25th St, First Floor, Baltimore, MD 21218

And that’s not all. The new space gives me the opportunity to host workshops! Right now, we have two scheduled. The first one is with Ann Weaver:

Yipes Stripes: Intermediate Techniques for Striping
Sunday, 9/23 from 2 to 4 pm.
In this class, participants will learn new techniques for creating stripes by working on a small striped project of their choice. Take your striping abilities to the next level! Improve your techniques, learn some new skills, and practice creating your own striped patterns.
Techniques taught will include:
Braids
Slipped-stitch patterns that use only one color per round
Textures and stripes created by binding off and picking up
Neatly carrying unused colors while striping
Two techniques for jogless joins
Welts
And more! If you have a technique you’d like to learn, let me know and I’ll include it.

The second workshop is one that I hope will become a regular:

NFC Dyeing Workshop, Saturday, 10/6 from 12-4 pm.
With my assistance, you will create your own hand dyed skeins of yarn! In this workshop you will explore kettle dying techniques and color theory. Leave with three amazing skeins of sock yarn – dyed by you!
Skills Learned:
basic color theory
basic color mixing
kettle dyeing techniques
color layering in kettle dyeing
