My only problem is naming them.  I always struggle with picking new names for each color.  Which neighborhood best reflects the color?  What do I know about the neighborhood?  So, this time, it’s up to you! Here are closeup shots of each color.

Next Wednesday, May 19, I will select the new color names from your suggestions.  I will also randomly select three winners to each receive a skein of yarn in one of the new colors.  And here are the rules/instructions for the contest:

• - Go to the comment section and leave your suggestion for neighborhood names for any or all of the colors.
• - Be sure to include your email address so I can contact you if you win.
• - Be sure to mention which color goes with which neighborhood.
• - ONLY Columbus, OH and Washington, DC area neighborhoods are eligible.
• - Don’t worry if someone else has already suggested your neighborhood.  You can still comment with the same suggestion and be entered to win the yarn.

Now, I know that it’s hard to adequately capture colors on computer monitors.  For this reason, folks local to DC or Columbus can go see the yarn in person at Fibre Space in Alexandria, VA or at Wonderknit in Columbus, OH.

I’m still not a football fan, but I did finally cave in and give the people what they wanted.

Buckeye colorway, Studio Sock.  It will be available, exclusively at Wonderknit beginning next Monday, October 26.  GO BUCKS!  Or something.

I worked with the guys at A Tangled Skein to come up with the colors, inspired by the shop and Hyattsville.  It’s available exclusively at A Tangled Skein, and it’s going fast.  I’m delivering some more this week though, and I know they have a waiting list.  Here’s a more detailed pic of the yarn.

Tonight is the local Stitch N’ Pitch with the Nats. I’ll be there with girlfriend in tow.

A few yarn stores in the area have tickets. A Tangled Skein in Hyattsville and Knit Happens in Alexandria, though I’m not sure how many are left.

The photo is my contribution to the goody bags that Ellen of In Stitches coordinated. Miniature sock yarn skeins, each about 40 yards. Enough to swatch or use as an accent. Hope to see you there!

So, I’ve only been back from OH for a few days, and I’m already missing a few things. Ignoring the obvious stuff (Libby’s hospitality!), I’m missing the food. I know it sounds crazy to us East Coasters, but Columbus is a food town. There is tons of yummy food. And i sampled a LOT of it.

Most delicious dessert ever = Jeni’s ice cream. Seriously, ask other yarn folk who were in town. Awesome.

So imagine my surprise when I walked into Knit Happens this afternoon to pick up a project for the book and heard that Jeni’s was arriving. Packaged in dry ice. I’ve never been so happy to see UPS.

I didn’t take pictures of us eating. Because seriously, not pretty. Mostly moaning and groaning and shoveling ice cream in mouths.

So, I’m finally back in DC! Columbus was awesome, but it’s great to be sitting and typing in my own little office with my cats by my side.

I had to post this pick of my little red car, a Fit named Trixie. She was stuffed with yarn, display racks, and fiber leftover from two shows. Libby is barely in the photo stuffing things in the front passenger seat

I did have good sales though since I initially shipped out two big boxes of yarn. Needless to say I got some interesting stares driving down the highway.
