Name the New Neighborhood Contest!

Check out these new colors!  I’ve experimented with all three in different variations as part of the L’Enfant Color Series.  Now, they’re all becoming part of the permanent Neighborhood Fiber Co. color family!

New Colors

My only problem is naming them.  I always struggle with picking new names for each color.  Which neighborhood best reflects the color?  What do I know about the neighborhood?  So, this time, it’s up to you! Here are closeup shots of each color.

Pinks:

Greens:

Blues:

Next Wednesday, May 19, I will select the new color names from your suggestions.  I will also randomly select three winners to each receive a skein of yarn in one of the new colors.  And here are the rules/instructions for the contest:

  • - Go to the comment section and leave your suggestion for neighborhood names for any or all of the colors.
  • - Be sure to include your email address so I can contact you if you win.
  • - Be sure to mention which color goes with which neighborhood.
  • - ONLY Columbus, OH and Washington, DC area neighborhoods are eligible.
  • - Don’t worry if someone else has already suggested your neighborhood.  You can still comment with the same suggestion and be entered to win the yarn.

Now, I know that it’s hard to adequately capture colors on computer monitors.  For this reason, folks local to DC or Columbus can go see the yarn in person at Fibre Space in Alexandria, VA or at Wonderknit in Columbus, OH.

  1. Jen Lawson Says:

That green is DEFINITELY Victorian Village! It makes me think of Goodale Park with all of the lilypads! I don’t know if I can get this specific, but the pink reminds me of downtown Dublin. Downtown (around 161 & High in Dublin- not the High you are thinking of, but where Jeni’s is in Dublin) is very colorful and sort of has that architectured-old feel to it. The blues make me think of Old Worthington- cute shops, farmer’s market, etc.
    Yay for new colors! :)

  2. Rachel B. Says:

Pinkish Purple: Victorian Village in Columbus

Green: Beechwold, a sub neighborhood of Clintonville

    Blue: NationWide Arena District! LOL
Just kidding! How about Dennison Place (The Circles) which is a very pretty area with mini-parks. It’s a sub-neighborhood of University district/ Victorian Village.

  3. Sweet Charlotte Says:

Green: Hawthorne a neighborhood in DC just off northern Rock Creek Park.
    Pink: The Palisades
    Blue: Michigan Park

  4. Peach District Pink!

    Glen Echo Green?

  5. Crosby pink

  6. Blue-LITTLE FAIRVIEW

  7. Apologies if you already have these names in your colorways!

    Blue: Mayfair

    Pink: Penn Quarter

    Green: River Terrace

  8. Blue – Little Fairview

  9. Koala TigerHawk Says:

    Blue: Little Fairview

  10. PhlagerustheMightyandAllConsuming Says:

    BLUE-Little Fairview

  11. Blue – Little Fairview!

  12. Pink: Kenilworth (because I swear some of the blooming water lilies are that color)
    Green: Wesley Heights
    Blue: Capitol Hill

  13. P.S. They’re all so beautiful and vibrant!

  14. Pink: Sasha Pink
    Green: Turquoise Green
    Blue: Electric Company Blue

  15. The pink Military Road when all the azaleas are in bloom

    The green Spring Valley

Blue Haines point. This is a long shot but that’s what came to mind

I see why its so hard for you but guess having Ohio helps

  16. Greens – Murfield Village (in honor of the upcoming golf tournament)
    Blues – Powell
Pinks – Jeffery Mansion (in Bexley – beautiful in the springtime)

  17. My brain thinks the pink is more Victorian Village, and the green goes with Dublin. I live in Grandview, so I gotta claim the blue for Grandview ;)

  18. Pink – Buzzard’s Point (because that’s where Ziegfeld’s/Secrets moved…heehee!)
Green – Manor Park or Palisades (sounds fancy)
Blue – Edgewood (BECAUSE YOU WILL BE MOVING THERE SOON AND MAKING ME HAPPY!)

    xo :-)

  19. Blue-little fairview!

  20. Blue for Little Fairview!

  21. Bridgette Says:

    blue – McPhearson Square
pink – The Hill in Spring
    green – tidal basin

so vibrant and gorgeous, as always!!!

  22. I vote Hill North for the pink! The gardens and yards this spring were awash with that color!

Or, i guess you could use tidal basin too…i hear they have cherry trees or something there? i can never see anything through the people & their fanny packs.

  23. Pink – Tidal Basin
    Green – Woodley Park
    Blue – Maine Ave

  24. Pink – Kenwood (it reminds me of the cherry blossoms there)
    Blue – Dupont
    Green – Tidal Basin

  25. Elizabeth Says:

Just started my first project with your yarn (1600 Pennsylvania) and it is absolutely delicious!

    Pink: Tidal Basin
    Green: Rock Creek
    Blue: Farragut Square

  26. Pink: Kenilworth
    Green: Takoma Park
    Blue: Georgetown

  27. Anne Lindenfeld Says:

How about “Tivoli” for the pink? It’s not exactly an official neighborhood name, but the Tivoli is certainly the center of Columbia Heights.

I like “Barnaby Woods” for the green. It’s where I live, and only a block from very green trees of Rock Creek Park.

Anacostia says blue to me. Well, in about 20 more years of cleanup.

Very fun exercise ! Thanks, Karida!

  28. How about naming the blue Potomac? It isn’t a neighborhood but it is part of the whole area. And it is vital to whole region.

And the pinks remind me of the cherry blossoms around town in the spring. So maybe Tidal Basin Pink? Although they could be the azalea bushes in spring too. But I like Tidal Basin Pink.

  29. although they’re not neighborhoods, please consider these noteworthy landmarks:

    pink – the smithsonian
    blue – hains point
    green – rock creek park

  30. I love Arthella’s suggestion of landmarks – but I’d suggest:
Blue = Air & Space Museum
Green = Rock Creek Park (largest National Park within a city!)
Pink = Tidal Basin (with the cherry trees in bloom)

  31. wonderful colors, especially the blue and green
    blue — capitol hill
    green — foggy bottom
    pink — McArthur

  32. Don’t know if you’ve decided on names for them yet, but here’s my two-bits worth.
BLUE – Washington Monument (for the reflecting pools)
PINK – Park of Roses Gazebo (at Whetstone)
GREEN – Muirfield Village (was gonna suggest someplace else, but it begs a different green.)
